It has been a violent July Fourth weekend in Chicago, as more than 60 people have been shot and at least nine have died of their wounds. Police have fired their weapons in five incidents. An outspoken critic of the gun violence that continues to afflict the city's South and West Sides, Fr. Pfleger pointed out the irony of this latest outbreak taking place during the July 4th weekend.
