Infinite Love
I learned some news about a friend this week. I call her friend, not because of the time I’ve known her, but because of the person I'm blessed to know while I’ve known her. The irony is that her name is so befitting. The blessing in her journey is that I am witnessing her being strong during one of the hardest times in her life. Some people go through things to become a testimony for others. People that go through terminal illnesses are looked upon as sick, weak, destitute and hopeless. This is further from the truth. I’ve gone through the journey of death of a loved one and it is the most life changing experience I’ve ever had. There is a certain peace that a person has when they cross over from the earthly realm into the spiritual realm. Although the body is failing, the sense of awareness seems heightened and the tranquility is overwhelming. Death is such a personal journey as each person makes peace with the fact that their earthly presence will soon fade away. This is a very difficult time for the loved ones left behind. We want to keep them here safely tucked away in a metaphysical existence that is no longer accommodating to their current state. Their physical body has suffered and we must unselfishly release them and allow them to transition into the next phase of life, which is death. Death is the earthly finale. It is extremely difficult for family and friends to watch loved ones take the final curtain call of life’s journey. For those of us that are left behind grief doesn’t start at death. Grief starts at the anticipation of the loss of life. Grief starts during the total recall of memories and unanswered questions that have no resolution. My prayer today is that everyone that has experienced this process or is going through this journey right now, find comfort in knowing that your loved ones will no longer suffer. The fight is over and they can now rest.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” R.I.P. Angel Williams 7/12/14
