Day #9-Rest
I am thankful for rest. I have a pretty busy life. Between running around for my son, working, and running a household, many times there aren’t enough hours in one day. Everyday, I get up at 5am and I am never in bed before midnight on most days. I know for a fact that I am sleep deprived. Bad habits are just like any other habit, if you continue to do them, eventually they become your norm. My body has now adjusted to the lack of sleep because this has been my routine for so long. There are times when exhaustion does set in and I have no choice but to get some additional rest. This Thanksgiving holiday, my plan is to briefly visit with family and rest. I’m not cooking this year. Honestly, food is so far from my mind this week. Black Friday shopping is canceled, so by Saturday, I should be very well rested. The only thing I may do after dinner is check out a movie. The reality is, my greatest blessings aren’t anything material. Many times the most important things are the things that some people take for granted. As I get older and the days seem to get shorter, I’ve learned how to appreciate my surroundings.
