do you lie

        There are many reasons why people don’t tell the truth. I was watching a show on television and it was said that men lie an average of 6 times a day and women lie an average of 3 times a day.  Lies can be extremely hurtful because it takes away a person’s ability to trust. Even if a person apologizes for deceiving someone, there’s a strong possibility that the person will never be trusted again.  The longer a lie goes on, the more damage is done. Many times a person has to tell several lies to cover up the first lie that was told.  A person that can easily lie once is inclined to do it again, and again, and again. Many times people lie to manipulate a situation that they think the truth would prevent them from obtaining. We all say that we respect the truth, but do we have enough strength to accept it?  It’s difficult sometimes to tell someone the truth because of fear of hurting them. Unfortunately a person will hurt more knowing that the truth was hidden for a long period of time. Trust is fragile. People lie to get what they want, but realistically we are not entitled to have everything we want. It’s immature to believe that we have the right to control everything in life.  Nobody has the right to take away another person’s right to make an informed decision. A person can only do this with all of the information about a situation. Women seem to lie for acceptance, but men lie to build their image. Many relationships have been destroyed because of lies. A person needs to be able to accept your truth. At some point lies may be revealed throughout the course of the relationship with a person. When a person is classified as a liar, it shows the type of character they have and it is not wise to ever trust the person again. Have the courage to tell the truth. The first person that we all need to be truthful with is ourselves! Sometimes it takes courage to tell the truth, but it’s better to tell the truth in the beginning than to try to clean up a filthy mess later. Apologies do not wipe away deliberate deceit and the harsh reality is that a person that creates a trail of lies does not care about you anyway! The only that a person cares about is him or herself.
