Black Lemons
You carry more on your shoulders these days
You're in a multitask jungle
Filled with generational problems
You try
to go on with your life cloaked with what you been told
Trained to take more than the boys since being a lil' girl
You tell yourself that you matter
that you're important
Do you matter
I can hardly tell anymore
Being a black woman has become an oxymoron
Been an object since being a slave
Hard to find a happy medium when you are bombarded by images that say you are not ok
TV only magnetized your polar opposite
Constantly embarrassed by social indifference
but we laugh at ourselves for being so ignorant
Significance only when I suits our best interest
You get hit inside elevators
Spit on by your counterparts
Mocked over your features
then copied on a lighter piece of paper
We can't blame others more than ourselves because some of us are comfortable in our place
you carry more on your shoulders these days
It don’t even hurt seeing you enslaved
They serve it on a plate and it gets consumed
but I believe what a great woman taught me was the example of dealing with the bad an making it good
My mom was a lemonade maker
My aunts was the 1st recycler
My grandma's were the best things that ever happened
and their tears and prayers are the only reason that these letters appear
and make sense
because the world may think that you don’t matter but they fail to realize
if it wasn’t for your style
Grace
Vision
Purpose to triumph over pain
The ability to understand that lemons are only sour till you add your magic
that they can’t conjure on their best day
Black woman will always be the center and all points to the pyramid
