Today in June 12th. In 2014, there have already been approximately 92 murders in Baltimore. From January 1st, the incidence of gun violence has been on a rapid incline.  It seems like those that are committing the murders don't have any regard for human life. According to the data on baltimoresun.com, the biggest spike in homicides was seen in January and May of this year.  The least amount of murders occurred in the month of March. The Eastern and Southwestern districts seem to be the most affected to date. According to data, the amount off murders have increased since 2011. For example in 2012 there were 11 murders in January. In 2013, there were 14. By January 31, 2014, there were 27.  it's very easy to become desensitized to the things happening in specific communities, especially if you do not reside there. We must never allow our emotions to become numb to this ongoing trend. Although the news, at times, can be very unpleasant, it's important to stay well informed about things that affect our city, because unfortunately, no area is exempt from crime. We must do our part to work with law enforcement and politicians to ensure the safety of our families.  On that note, I must go and cast my vote and I hope you will also!!!!!!
