Home Sweet Home
With all of the unrest brewing in other areas around the world concerning police brutality, I would have never imagined that this problem would erupt in my hometown. Most of you are now aware of the case concerning the death of 25 year old Freddie Gray. This young man sustained severe neck and spinal injuries, while in police custody. It's always the same story when the police are involved in the death of an unarmed black man. This is day 5 and the protest have already begun to intensify. We want answers. We want those that are responsible to be held accountable. We want these senseless acts of police brutality to cease! I am ashamed. I am disheartened that yet another family has to endure this tragic reality. I am saddened by the representation of Baltimore City Police Department. I am heartbroken that yet another name has to be added to the list of so-called justifiable murders by law enforcement. This is not an isolated incident. This is a nationwide issue. I want to say thanks to the activist from Ferguson, Missouri, New York and other areas that have not only joined in solidarity with Baltimore, but have traveled here to lend a hand in the organizing and planning of the protest in the area. These folks have already been where we are now. Hats off to the local organizers and spiritual leaders that have unselfishly assisted the family and organized the events of the week in honor of Freddie Gray. We have alot of work to do, people! "We won't stop, we can't stop, til' KILLER COPS are in cell blocks"!
